| Posted By : lubeguy - 1-25-2005 5:09 | | I have PC MightyMax on my computer and want to remove it. It was downloaded from internet. How can I remove it. My PC is windows using MS XP. |

| Posted By : Andrei M - 1-26-2005 7:44 | Hello lubeguy,
does the start>control panel>add/remove programs list allow you to uninstall PCMightyMax? "the doer alone learneth" /friedrich nietzsche. |

| Posted By : giusep111 - 2-9-2005 3:09 | I also am having trouble removing the PC MightyMax. The start>control panel>add/remove programs list does not allow you to uninstall PCMightyMax.
It simply does not give you that option.
It also appears to prevent you from restoring your computer to an earlier point once it is installed on windows xp.
I am thinking there may be a DOS code and procedure which could be followed to get rid of PC MightyMax. Any ideas?? |

| Posted By : WhatsUp - 2-19-2005 10:10 | In the start>control panel>add/remove programs, PC MightyMax has a "Change" option.
Select that. it runs the PC MightyMax installer, but then presents you with an option to uninstall.
Worked for me. |

| Posted By : yastreb - 11-12-2005 3:50 | | I too did not find any reference to PC MightyMax on the add/remove programs list. However, I was able to remove the app from my PC by deleting all references to PCMM.exe in the registry and then deleting the PC MightMax folder in c:\program files.
|

| Posted By : augusta - 1-9-2006 2:42 | | I too have problems with unistalling PC mightymax. I did go to the program files and uninstalled it that way. But, now when I use "run" and "ipconfig", I get a dark dos box for about 1 second and it kicks me out. I can not "run" anything. Help. |

It appears this has taken a new turn, or perhaps new interaction with IE 7. I did not get a remove in add/remove programs however there was an uninstall option off the programs/Mightymax menu. I ran it, appeared to use uninstaller but literally hosed many items on my computer. As mentioned, no system restore point will work, it hammered all my activeX control and yet will not let me redownload and install activeX again. Norton Systemworks is completely corrupted, every module.... and it will not let Microsoft site validate my software at all for any attempt to redownload software. All also wiped several of the HP printer processes. Other than 3 weeks ago, downloading IE7 at last, this computer has been static and nothing but PC MightyMax installed. When I didn't want to pay and used that uninstaller, immediately upon reboot all these issues appeared. There is no PCMM.EXE service running. I did manually eliminate all MightyMax and PCMM entrys with regedit. Also deleted the program files PCMightyMax folder... IE will work for the most part and allow web access but appears any directX reference causes major issues and pages won't be displayed. Tried to do an XP repair but I've either forgotten the O/S admin password (anyone know a decent freebie password cracker?) or this thing has altered or blocked the password. 4 computers in house, always have used same password, but it will not work on XP recovery mode now. I can't vouch definitely that PC MightyMax did password issue... but simply always use the same one.
Any thoughts appreciated!

| Posted By : profman2 - 1-6-2007 4:13 | | My apologies for above... meant DirectX is completely screwed up and can't be re-downloaded and any activeX reference causes no page viewings in IE |

Go to run, enter msconfig -click on startup - uncheck PCMM2007, restart, then deletete the temp fiules and cookies, then delete PCMM from programs - delete from recycle bin - restart - you will get a pop-up about the startup - follow its directions - [hmmm I think I got it all there]..
In fact I reported it to the Federal Trade Commission as a "bait and switch" program - what Might Max is doing by not allowing an uninstall is totally illegal...

Are there any more tricks that I can use? Can I report this company to a regulatory agency? You simply can't contact them to lodge a complaint by phone or e-mail. This program randomly scans and slows my computer up to four times a dayi n a span of approx. five hours! HELP please and thanks for hosting this forum.

Choose the Normal Startup Mode on the General tab to start Windows normally and undo the changes you made using the system config utility. If I do that will it re-install pc mightymax or cause other problems?

HOW I REMOVED “PC-MIGHTYMAX MESS” version 9 on Win XP
PC MightyMax is a malicious software. It infects computers secretly and then it offers purchasing fake anti spyware. Do not trust PC Mighty Max; it uses illegal ways to spread; besides, the same named spyware remover it advertises is useless. It’s just a fraud to milk money. PC MightyMax launches fabricated security reports to convince people of dangerous computer infection. Do not fall for this trick; PC Mighty Max is a dangerous malware itself.
The reason I ended up here was after I ran the scan I looked at the list of what it said was a problem and noticed it wanted to remove a programs exe registry file from exactly were I new it was installed so I searched for reviews on the “PC-MIGHTYMAX” program and found these post and can see thats it's no Good and really messes up things when you have it fix the problems (Yeah right, sure looks likes it causes more problems than it fixes).
If you had “PC-MIGHTYMAX” fix the so called bogus problems you will need to reinstall the programs that no longer work.
If you can no longer boot into windows or safe mode you will need to do XP Repair Install.
I followed mcurrier1 directions with a few exceptions.
One being it was in my Add\Remove programs, if yours is not just skip that step.
I recommend trying the SAFE Mode method first thats on down towards the bottom.
When you install PC-MightyMax, it starts automatically every time you start your computer.
You will need to shut it down before you can remove it.
Click on the “START” button to bring up the main menu.
Click on “RUN” in the right-hand column of the main menu.
In the “RUN” window, type MSCONFIG
Click the “OK” button, this will open the System Configuration Utility window.
Click the STARTUP tab at the top of window.
Scroll down until you find PCMM.EXE and uncheck the box that is to the left of the name.
Click the OK button at the bottom of the window, a box will appear, click the Restart button.
Your computer will restart with another System Configuration Utility window appearing click OK.
The main System Configuration Utility window will appear, click CANCEL.
Now, with PC MightyMax not running, it can be removed.
Assuming that you did not change the setup's defualt installation location of PC MightyMax.
You will find it under ( C:\Program Files\PC MightyMax) .
Open Control panel click Add\Remove programs scroll down to PC-MightyMax click the Change button and uninstall.
If it's not in the Add\Remove programs proceed to next step. If you did uninstall from the Add\Remove programs the PC MightyMax folder is still on your computer with a bunch of temp files in it.
Open My Computer then open your (C:) drive.
Scoll to the Program Files folder and open it. You may get the message These Files Are Hidden
click on the phrase Show the contents of this Folder.
Scroll down until you see PC MightyMax folder.
RIGHT-click on the PC MightyMax folder a box opens, hold down the Shift key click the word Delete.
Okay now you need to change the System Configuration Utility back to Normal Startup.
Go to the Run box again. MSCONFIG should still be there if not retype it in then click OK.
Select Normal Startup then click the Apply button and then the Close button, a box will appear click Restart.
Once your Computer is restarted to remove any left over registry references and the PCMM.exe reference thats still in the System Configuration Utility Startup just download, install and run Glarysoft Registry Repair to remove this and many other errors. Glarysoft Registry Repair safely repairs errors on your computer, restores the overall performance and speed of your PC.
Safe Mode method - Safer, easier, and for those who can't open MSCONFIG System Configuration Utility
I have not tried this but I am pretty sure this should work with any version, even for Win9x users.
When you boot into Safe Mode the operating system only loads the bare minimum of software that is required for the operating system to work so the startup programs are not running and you will not need to go through the MSCONFIG procedure. You will be able to uninstall and or delete PC-MIGHTYMAX since it should not be running.
To get into the Windows 2000 / XP Safe mode, as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" . Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.
Another way into safe mode on most Windows versions is to skip the menu by using F5 and not F8 which will go right into safe mode, no menu.
Note: With some computers if you press and hold a key as the computer is booting you will get a stuck key message. If this occurs, instead of pressing and holding the "F8 key", tap the "F8 key" continuously until you get the startup menu.
Trouble Getting into Windows 2000 or Windows XP Safe mode - If after several attempts you are unable to get into Windows 2000 or Windows XP Safe Mode as the computer is booting into Windows, turn off your computer. When the computer is turned on the next time Windows should notice that the computer did not successfully boot and give you the Safe Mode screen.
Now, with PC MightyMax not running, it can be removed.
Open Control panel click Add\Remove programs scroll down to PC-MightyMax click the Change button and uninstall.
If it's not in the Add\Remove programs proceed to next step.If you did uninstall from the Add\Remove programs the PC MightyMax folder is still on your computer with a bunch of temp files in it.
Assuming that you did not change the setup's defualt installation location of PC MightyMax
You will find it under ( C:\Program Files\PC MightyMax) .
Open My Computer then open your (C:) drive.
Scroll to the Program Files folder and open it. You may get the message These Files Are Hidden
click on the phrase Show the contents of this Folder.
Scroll down until you see PC MightyMax folder.
RIGHT-click on the PC MightyMax folder a box opens, hold down the Shift key click the word Delete. Restart the computer normally.
Well I spent a good part of my time writing this up trying to cover everyones problems that I read in these post and I hope this will help.
NOTE: After posting this I scanned my PC for spyware using Ad-Aware 2007 free version and found malware which I believe may have been from installing PC MightyMax so you may want to run a good spyware remover program.
I would also recommend that you empty your System Restore. Right click My Computer, click Properties, click the System Restore tab, click the box to the left of Turn of System Restore on all drives then click the Apply button, a box opens, click Yes. To turn it back on just uncheck the box to the left of Turn of System Restore and click the Apply button.
GOOD LUCK getting your PC back!!

| Posted By : Identsgt - 6-2-2008 10:02 | | I downloaded Mighty Max to see what it offered. The warning about 3500+ problems made me very uneasy. The licence fees were not credible. I Googled it and found this forum. I deleted the program and rooted out the files that Vista could not. Then, the keyboard stopped working. The sound stopped working. There were many exclaimation marks in the hardware manager. Vista could not activate six drivers. The keyboard worked in the bios setup, so it was not hardware. The mouse worked, so I did a Windows system restore to a time prior to Mighty Max. Now the laptop is working properly.

| Posted By : HBaker - 6-21-2009 2:39 | | I too had a problem in removing PC MightyMax.
I "finally" did remove it - in three steps:
1. I removed it from my start up menu.
2. I restarted my computer in the "safe mode".
3. I deleted its folder from my "program files".

and save it on the desktop. Then double click on it (Fix_download.exe).
You may have to allow the program to download files from the web!
The program download the necessary cleaning programs. Once the program is downloaded, there will be a folder on your desktop named Fix. – if the instructions not automatically opens, so double-click "FIX_manual.htm" in Fix folder.
Please follow the instructions and copy the logs, in your own Topic.
Note : Fix_download.exe is detected by some antivirus programs as a "RiskTool" /infection; it is not a virus. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
If necessary, temporarily disable your anti-virus, real-time protection before downloading
