I recently copied/paste a text from a website for work and when I tried opening my word documents in which I had pasted this text it did something weird to my computer. Is it possible to put a virus into a copy/paste text? Like is it possible to put a virus in a text hoping for people to copy/paste it? Even weirder now I cannot go on that page I copied the text from...
Unfortunately, 'something weird' is not very helpful in describing a computer problem. You will need to give a more detailed account of the issues affecting your computer.
It is also not very helpful to post a link that could be malicious and I hope no one will click on to it.
Indeed I shouldnt have copied the link you are right, I apologize. Even though actually the problem doesnt come from this website itself but more from the tetx that I have copied. It was anyway a mistake.
The problems I had was that all the elements on my desktop disappeared, my computer became very slow, and my internet too. I couldnt find back even on my hard drive all my files that were in my desktop.
Thank you very much, I did run a scan but a partial one because I had to use my computer and it is too slow if there is a scan running but will try now and I have installed Malwarebytes and will use it. I will let you know, thanks for the tips.
If your PC is infected, the virus did not come from that page nor did it come by copying and pasting that page to your Word processor. I went to that page and copied everything there and pasted it in my Word and no virus infection occured. I then went back to that page and still able to access it. It's just a plain text file nothing malicious there.
You should let MalwareBytes complete a Quick scan and not just partial. Is it just the desktop icons that have disappeared? How about when you click on the Start menu are the programs listed? How about the taskbar is it present or is it gone also?* You may pm me if you're still waiting for my follow-up post.
How can I thank you for this mess and for having taken the time to try that for me. I did a scan and had 31 files infected but I think you are right and it has nothing to do with this file. I needed a confirmation like yours so thank you it helps a lot.
I will reboot my computer and get a good antivirus , I think it is my only wat to remove them
Let me know if your issue is solved after running a Malwarebytes scan. Posting the scanlog will give me more details regarding your problem.Robert Mateescu
