Hi! Im looking to get some advice around a problem relating to my laptop loading windows(XP home Edition). The problem started whilst online, laptop became very slow so restarted. On restart, initial start up pages were normal (including a welcome page) however instead of going to log in page, the desk top picture loaded with no icons. Tried Ctrl+Alt+Del but pop up displays 'Task manager has been disabled by your administrator'. Closing down prompts an 'end task' pop up.
Tried loading in safe mode. Initially get a screen filled with Cmd line responses relating to the system (?) I then get the log in page (user or admin).
Selecting 'Admin' prompts blank screen bar the 'safe mode' in each corner and a line of Microsoft windows information at the top of the screen (inc service pack details). Ctrl+Alt+Del produces task manager with 12 processes running (not entirely what i can do with these!) everything else is empty.
Selecting 'user' whilst in safe mode does little more than start up NOT in safe mode due to task manager being disabled by admin.
Iv also tried starting from 'Last known good configuration(your most recent settings that worked)'
Im looking to restore the laptop (or at least the drive) as it has pictures that weren’t backed up (My sisters account! and yes iv told her to back up!!!)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
