Welcome to BG forums 05_M13L_26,

Something may have incorrectly altered some Registry search URL settings. Let's take a look.

To keep them from interfering with the repairs, be sure to temporarily disable all antivirus/anti-spyware softwares while these steps are being completed. This can usually be done through right clicking the software's Taskbar icons, or accessing each software through Start - Programs.

Download RSIT (random's system information tool) from here to your desktop. Then click on the RSIT.exe to open the RSIT display, and click the Continue button.

If necessary allow it to locate or download a copy of HijackThis as needed.

Once the scan completes a textbox will open - copy/paste those contents here for review please. The log can also be found at C:\rsit\log.txt.

RSIT will also create a second log, info.txt, which will be minimized to your taskbar. Post that here as well please (it will also be stored at C:\rsit\info.txt).

You can break logs into parts and use separate posts here when replying and posting the log files, if needed.

Click here and help my friend help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.

The logs show some competing adware/search hijacker toolbars installed, which would cause quite a few problems with searches. But also some malware startups, as well as an autorun worm infection. Let's start some repairs.

The malware has included an autorun type component, so if any external drives have been used on this computer recently be sure to install them now, and leave them installed until ALL repairs on it are completed. If not, they will remain infected and can re-infect the computer (or others).

To keep them from interfering with the repairs, be sure to temporarily disable all antivirus/anti-spyware softwares while these steps are being completed. This can usually be done through right clicking the software's Taskbar icons, or accessing each software through Start - Programs.

Go to Start – Settings – Control Panel. Click on Add/Remove Programs. If any of the following programs are listed there, click on the program to highlight it, and click on Remove. Then close the Control Panel.

Ask Toolbar - made by the same vendor that makes the MyWebSearch adware/spyware (see here and here)
ToggleEN Toolbar - Conduit search hijacker (see here)
WeFiBar Toolbar - Conduit search hijacker (see here)

Open Notepad (Start - Run, type Notepad then press OK), and copy the text inside the box above and paste it into the open Notepad textbox.

Save this to your desktop as "fixer.reg"

Be sure to include the "" quotes in the name.

Then right click fixer.reg, select Merge, and allow it to merge the new information with the Registry.

------------------

Download ComboFix.exe from here to your desktop, but I would like you to rename the file as you download it (do not download it directly without renaming it - use right click "Save Target/Link As" ). For this, rename the downloading file to 456out.com, then click the renamed 456out.com to run that scan.

Be sure to install the Recovery Console if you are asked to do so. When the scan completes, a text window with your log will open. Please copy and paste that log back here.

A caution - do not touch your mouse/keyboard until the scan has completed. The scan will temporarily disable your desktop, and if interrupted may leave your desktop disabled. If this occurs, please reboot to restore the desktop.

Allow the scan to run. When completed a text window will appear - please copy/paste the contents back here. This log can also be found at C:\ComboFix.txt.

So I understand what is occurring there, ComboFix starts, but never finishes? Or made the system reboot, but did not provide a log after?

I can assist with most problems 05_M13L_26, but I am not sure I understand what you are asking. The term "vga" suggests the monitor drivers in some way, but why are you asking about those? It would be very helpful if you would tell me what problems you are having running ComboFix, so you and I can get your computer repaired.

You reformatted your computer, and reinstalled the operating system? I can assist with restoring the necessary drivers, but need to know if this is what you did there.

If the answer is yes, you did reformat, what you need are the "graphics" drivers. What is the vendor and make of the computer (for example, Hewlett Packard 660g)?
