Please download Brute Force Uninstaller.
http://www.merijn.org/files/bfu.zip
Unzip it to it’s own folder (c:\BFU)

 

Also download Alcra PLUS Remover.
http://metallica.geekstogo.com/alcanshorty.bfu
Save it in the same folder you made earlier (c:\BFU).

Open My Computer and navigate to the c:\BFU folder. Start the Brute Force Uninstaller by doubleclicking "BFU.exe"

In the scriptline to execute field copy and paste
c:\bfu\alcanshorty.bfu
Press "Execute" and let it do it’s job.
You ought to see a progress bar if you did this correctly.

Wait for the complete script execution box to pop up and press OK.
Press exit to terminate the BFU program.

 

After that scan again with Hijackthis and post a new HJT log back to this thread.

Did you download and run the Brute force uninstaller and Alcra remover?

 

If you did and it didn't work, try this version of Alcra remover:( If this doesn't work we'll have to remove it manually using Killbox.

cmd and regedit not working is still very much a sign that the Alcra worm is still present in your system.

 

Download Brute Force Uninstaller
http://www.merijn.org/files/bfu.zip
Unzip it to its own folder (c:\BFU)

 

Then download Alcra Remover:
http://metallica.geekstogo.com/p2pnetwork.bfu
Save it in the folder you made earlier (c:\BFU).

Open My Computer and navigate to the c:\BFU folder.
Start the Brute Force Uninstaller by doubleclicking "BFU.exe"

Press "execute" and let it do it’s job.

Your log is clean now   However, there are certain other reasons for which you receive those symptoms, and those reasons do not leave traces that HijackThis will see.

 

Please try the following procedure and let me know about its outcome with regards to the problem you have encountered:

 

1. The first reason might be that due to a past infection the Environment Variables for your system have been changed from the default and correct value. In order to see if this is the case, please follow these steps:

 

         "C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe", "C:\WINDOWS\system32\regedt32.exe", etc

.COM;.EXE;.BAT;.CMD;.VBS;.VBE;.JS;.JSE;.WSF;.WSH

Please make sure that the variables listed above are persent on your computer as well, and if not, edit that path and add the missing ones. You will need to reboot in order to make the new settings effective.

 

2. The second reason might be that the SDbot worm infection has created a new files replicating  the legal Windows files in your system (these will execute first than the legitimate Windows files). Follow this instructions to remove all these files.

- Download Killbox by Option^Explicit from this link:  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/killbox.php

- Extract the program to your desktop and double-click on its folder, then double-click on Killbox.exe to start the program.
- In the killbox program, select the Delete on Reboot option.
- Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

Tell me if you can start the IPconfig utility using one of these methods:

 

1. Start-> Run-> type "cmd" and press [Enter]

  

    In the Command Prompt window, simply type "ipconfig" and press [Enter]

 

2. Start-> Run-> type "cmd /k ipconfig" and press [Enter]
