I have a virus that doesn't allow me to do windows updates, and install anti-virus software. I went and purchased KAV two days ago and cannot install it. I need help on how to get this installed so I can get my computer cleaned and protected.
Thanks in advance for any help. I am very frustrated and I am trying to avoid from paying more money for more products to clean my computer.

Double-click on the combofix icon found on your desktop.
Please note, that once you start combofix you should not click anywhere on the combofix window as it can cause the program to stall. In fact, when combofix is running, do not touch your computer at all and just take a break as it may take a while for it to complete.
When finished, it will produce a logfile located at C:\combofix.txt.

The logs will be reasonably large so you may have to divide them into sections and make several posts to post them.
NB.If you are using any P2P (file sharing) programs, please remove them before we clean your computer.. We do not clean logs that have P2P applications installed as this can cause reinfection during your cleaning.

If you have any problems getting Eset started, one work-around is to have an open Internet connection, and then click http://download.eset.com/special/eos/esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe and download the esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe Eset installer. Then click that file, and follow the below steps to run the scan.

Follow the instructions on the site. When downloaded, click on – Check for updates – Button.
Under Configuration and Preferences, click the Preferences button. Click the Scanning Control tab. Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked:
Close browsers before scanning Scan for tracking cookies Terminate memory threats before quarantining. Ignore System Restore/Volume Information on ME and XP Please leave the others unchecked.
On the main screen, under Scan for Harmful Software click Scan your computer. On the left check C:\Fixed Drive. On the right, under Complete Scan, choose Perform Complete Scan. Click Next to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer. After the scan is complete a summary box will appear. Click OK. Make sure everything in the white box has a check next to it, then click Next. It will quarantine what it found and if it asks if you want to reboot, click NO.
When the scan have finished ->
Click Preferences . Click the Statistics/Logs tab . Under Scanner Logs , double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log . It will open in your default text editor (such as Notepad/Wordpad).
and download the installer for Gmer to your desktop, then click that file to run Gmer.
If on it's opening scan Gmer locates items shown in red or indicates "hidden" or "rootkit", stop there, and click on the Copy button and rightclick on your Desktop, choose "New" > Text document. Once the file is created, open it and rightclick again and choose Paste. Copy the information and post it here please. We don't want any crashes just from taking an initial look at things.
If not, then click on Scan (before scanning, make sure all other running programs are closed and no other actions like a scheduled antivirus scan will occur while this scan completes. Also do not use your computer during the scan).
When completed, click on the Copy button and rightclick on your Desktop, choose "New" > Text document. Once the file is created, open it and rightclick again and choose Paste. Copy the information and post it here please.
You can break logs into parts and use separate posts here when replying and posting the log files, if needed.

Click Execute
The Avenger will automatically do the following:
It will Restart your computer. ( In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Delete", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.)
On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions.
This log file will be located atC:\avenger.txt
Post C:\avenger.txt in next reply, along with new DDS log
Now your computer problems are solved, it is time for the clean-up procedure
You should Create a New Restore Point to prevent possible reinfection from an old one. The easiest and safest way to do this is:
Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore Select Create a restore point, and Ok it. Next, go to Start > Run and type in cleanmgr Select the More options tab Choose the option to clean up system restore and OK it.
This will remove all restore points except the new one you just created.
Click on the CleanUp! button. When you do this a text file named cleanup.txt will be downloaded from the internet. If you get a warning from your firewall or other security programs regarding OTListIt attempting to contact the internet you should allow it to do so. After the list has been download you'll be asked if you want to Begin cleanup process? Select Yes.
This step removes the files, folders, and shortcuts created by the tools I had you download and run.
When done, you will be prompted to restart your computer. Please restart your computer.
