Kian,

You have the new MSN virus, you MUST uninstall your MSN Messenger because the file is infected.
This is what the worm does according to malware Expert S!ri:
The worm do a copy of C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\msnmsgr.exe to C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\msgs.exe
Then he replace the original C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\msnmsgr.exe by himself...

After you've uninstalled MSN messenger, please run Ewido and Superantispyware.
Also when you post your next hijackthis log please make a new topic and just pm or email me the link to it, okay?

1.  Please, download ewido anti-spyware
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
and save that file to your desktop. This is a 30 day trial of the program
* Once you have downloaded ewido anti-spyware, locate the icon on the desktop and double-click it to launch the set up program.
* Once the setup is complete you will need run ewido and update the definition files.
* On the main screen select the icon "Update" then select the "Update now" link.
*Next select the "Start Update" button, the update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
* Once the update has completed select the "Scanner" icon at the top of the screen, then select the "Settings" tab.
* Once in the Settings screen click on "Recommended actions" and then select "Quarantine".
* Under "Reports"
*Select "Automatically generate report after every scan"
*Un-Select "Only if threats were found"
Close ewido anti-spyware, Do Not run a scan just yet.

* Reboot your computer into SafeMode.
You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight SafeMode then hit enter.

IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while Ewido is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning proccess:
* Launch ewido-anti-spyware by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
* Select the "Scanner" icon at the top and then the "Scan" tab then click on "Complete System Scan".
* Ewido will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time.
Once the scan is complete do the following:
* If you have any infections you will prompted, then select "Apply all actions"
* Next select the "Reports" icon at the top.
* Select the "Save report as" button in the lower left hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system (make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important).
* Close ewido and reboot your system back into Normal Mode and post the results of the ewido report scan.

2.  * Download and install Superantispyware
http://www.superantispyware.com/downloadfile.html?productid=SUPERANTISPYWAREFREE
Load Superantispyware and click the check for updates button.
Once the update is finished, close SuperAntispyware again, we'll perform the scan later in safe mode
* Start Superantispyware.
Click the scan your computer button.
Check Perform Complete Scan and then next.
Superantispyware will now scan your computer and when its finished it will list all the infections it has found.
Make sure that they all have a check next to them and press next.
Click finish and you will be taken back to the main interface.
Click Preferences and then click the statistics/logs tab. Click the dated log and press view log and a text file will appear.

Post a new hijackthis log in a new topic please.

jose9908,

1. Download DelDomains.inf
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/DelDomains.inf
rightclick on the file and select "Install".

2.  Go to the link below and follow the procedure to remove Deluxecommunications
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic66364.html

3.   a) Please download Brute Force Uninstaller to your desktop.
http://www.merijn.org/files/bfu.zip
Right click the BFU folder on your desktop, and choose Extract All
Click "Next"
In the box to choose where to extract the files to,
Click "Browse"
Click on the + sign next to "My Computer"
Click on "Local Disk (C:) or whatever your primary drive is
Click "Make New Folder"
Type in BFU
Click "Next", and Uncheck the "Show Extracted Files" box and then click "Finish".

b)  Download Alcra PLUS Remover.
http://metallica.geekstogo.com/alcanshorty.bfu
Save it in the same folder you made earlier (c:\BFU).
Reboot to Safe Mode.
Then, please go to Start > My Computer and navigate to the C:\BFU folder.
Start the Brute Force Uninstaller by doubleclicking BFU.exe
Behind the "scriptline to execute" field click the "folder icon"  and select alcanshorty.bfu
Press Execute and let the program do it’s job. (You ought to see a progress bar if you did this correctly.)
Wait for the complete script execution box to pop up and press OK.
Press exit to terminate the BFU program.
Reboot into normal windows

The BFU script process looks for a very long list of files, registry entries and other malware but the log only lists the ones it did NOT find, so if you see that log and think it failed, don't worry it did not.

4.  Download this file - combofix.exe
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/combofix.exe
Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply
Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

5.  Post a new hijackthis log.

* You may email me if I've replied to your thread and you're still waiting my follow up post.

My desktop became inactive, and I was at the point of losing all my kids pictures. I was able to create another user name and log in succesfully. Problem was no documents. I went into Roxio CD creator and was able to locate all the documents under my profile. Once I burned all my pictures and files to CD I totally reistalled Windows. Sounds extreme I'm sure but it seems to have worked.

jose9908,

Everyone,
There are too many logs here on one thread and it can get confusing, it is much better if you all have your own thread.

If you're desperate enough for a reply just email/pm me the link to your thread and I'll be there to help.

Malcolm,

Please post a hijackthis log, in a New Topic would be great!

Just make a new topic with your hijackthis log.
Please download HijackThis 1.99.1
http://www.cyberanswers.org/forum/uploads/HijackThis1991.exe
Open Hijackthis, click "Do a system scan and save a logfile" don't fix anything yet just post the log so we can look at it.

You can send me the link to your topic if you like and I'll help you.
