Surely i aint the only one getting annoyed at the amount of pop ups from bullguard firewall in relation to stoppin an attack or something.

Then when click close you get another one after 600secs tellin you that the person who tried to attack you in the first place can now access your computer, Why not permanantly ban them and give us option to turn the warnings of.

I find it really annoying, for example i am in game, i.e BF2, and i am flying around in a plane just about to bomb someone and my game goes to desktop as the pop up pops up, when i click close and return to game i am dead, but only to add to the grief i know another message is going to pop up after 600secs.

This really needs to be looked at. :(

Hi there,

The notices you speak of refer to random port scanning: other computers (probably normal ones, infected by malicious software that uses them as zombies) scan your ports in trying to find a vulnerability. The Firewall blocks them for a default 600 seconds (no port scan lasts that long) then tells you it has stopped blocking them (NOT that they have gone through).

In order to solve this problem I will need you to do the following:

1. Please open BullGuard, go to the Firewall section, then go to the Overview tab and switch the user level to "Advanced".

2. Next, go to the Logs tab, and from the list in the top-right corner choose the Security log. In this log you will see the IP address of the computer that has tried to scan your ports. Right-click on it, choose "Ban" > "Ban remote IP address". However, before banning the IP address, please make sure that is not your own, or the modem's or router's gateway (Start-> Run-> type "cmd" and press [Enter], then type "ipconfig /all" and check the IP addresses in the list).

3. Then go to the Profiles tab, right-click the "Custom Security" profile and choose "Edit Security Profile".

4. In the small window that appears, just go to the Security tab, look for the last option called "Automatically block intruders for X seconds" and insert a larger number in that field, perhaps something like "6000000".

Also, you can disable these warning messages (NOT recommended), but only if you have version 6.0 of BullGuard installed on your computer.

a. If you have this version, please follow these steps:

1. Open the BullGuard console, Firewall section, Profiles tab.

2. Double click on the Custom Profile, and then go to the Notifications tab.

3. In the "When a security event occurs" section, uncheck the "Display a security notification" option.

Please let me know about the outcome of these steps.

Thankyou for the reply :)

I have done the following steps as of today 15:00hrs GMT so i will keep you posted.

Only discrepancy i noticed is the step about going to the security log, there where no ips listed, i can only presume this is due to the computer being rebooted and not having any port scans so far, therfore i cannot ban the ip's.

So far so good thank you :)

I have a follow-up re: Bullguard update pop-up messages.

On one of my computers, when Bullguard updates I get an unobtrusive toolbar message advising me that Bullguard has updated, which disappears after a few seconds. That is good, that's what I want. Near as I can tell, this computer uses Bullguard version 6.0. (that's what it says when I hold the cursor over the Bullguard icon in the taskbar).

On the other computer, I get larger red and white popups on the desktop that require clicking 'okay' to make them go away. That is annoying. It appears this computer uses Bullguard version 6.1.

How get the latter computer to advise me of Bullguard updates via the unobtrusive taskbar messages, rather the red and white desktop pop-ups?

Hi there I have recently followed the steps given by Andrei to remove port scanners and attackers which have now been banned for 6000000 seconds.  Since doing this, when I start my computer up I am receiving approximayely 30 attacks(which are being banned!!) from start up.  Is this correct and normal bearing in mind I am in advanced mode in security?

Hi Marcus,

Please try to delete all the entries from your Security log and tell me if the problem persists:

Open the BullGuard console, go to the Firewall section, set the User Level to Advanced, then please go to the Logs tab. In that tab, please select the Security Log from the drop-down list in the upper right corner. In the Security Log, right click inside the log window, and then choose Clear All Logs, and then press F5 to refresh the content of the log.

After this procedure you should restart your computer and let me know if the warnings persist.
