Hello all,

I'm having serious problems with Google: whether I use IE or Opera, I'm getting advertisements as the first ten search results (this happens only with a simple search word like "A"; with more complex search word both IE and Opera will get error and they'll have to shut down).

I've tried Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D, MS AntiSpyware, CWShredder and HiJackThis with no solution.

Thanks in advance.

Actually, the problem seems to be in Yahoo Search, too. I can search with a word up to 3 letters, and with a 4-letter search word the IE or Opera gets an error and shuts down.

Also, if the search word is simple (like "ABC"), I'll get results, with more complex search word (like "ZXC") I'll get the error.

The first ten results are always something like:

www.activemodeler.com
www.accoona.com
www.globaldirectsvcs.com
www.shoppingmallz.com/fitness.htm
msxml.info.com

Hi Ed. I dont know much about Opera. YOu must be from Europe since you are using that browser. But I can be wrong :)
If you are from Europe chances are you are behind a Linux OS. Again I might be wrong as well.
If you are behind a Linux make sure you are downloading the softs that are released for Linux rather than windows.

If you have windows xp or 2000 then things should get easier.
I strongly belive that you didnt scan your computer properly. I have too much faith in CWSHREDDER to believe it couldnt find anything. So...what I am saying is that do a reboot in SAFE MODE and do that CWSHREDDER fix one more time. If you are not crazy, and I am not saying you are, then you must have a spyware that is new and its generating pop ups everytime you open your browser. So you need 2 more programs. 1 will do same job as CWSHREDDER but with more patience and better results. The 2nd will protect your IE forever.
1st one is called SPY SWEEPER and has a free trial version. 2nd one is SPYBLASTER (1 word) and works in the background every time you start your machine. This one is free as long as you do the updates by yourself. You can pay for AUTO UPDATE if u keep forgeting things. SpywareBlaster will block activex objects, cookies...and most important all the bad sites that genereates trojans and spyware on the market out there.
But again....clean up your pc then install Spywareblaster and do ENABLE ALL after you did its definitions update.

Hope that helps. I am here to give a good help. I am doing this for a living. I clean PCs from spywares and viruses.

You can download the softwares I mentioned above from www.download.com
Go there search for them and find out what they are if you dont believe me. There are votes from folks like you and me saying which is better or worse.
As for antiviruse...I recommend ANTIVIR to my clients. Its free and its very well voted on www.download.com

enjoy and hope you get a cure soon
