nono Sorry folks,
You have a dummy as a new member. I was having spyware problems and tried out Pest Patrol. After installing and finding a number of problems realised I had to pay to remove - no thanks. I can't uninstall Pest Patrol- I can't even find it under "Add and Remove Programmes". This is becomong a real pain as it prompts a search everytime I log on. I know it is probably really easy but I don't Know Help me please. I find it asfter a search but then will not let me delete.
Thanks for letting me in
Dave

Hey Dave Nolansmilewinkgrin
Jv16 Power Tools can delete it: http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=jv16
You have to close Pestpatrol in Msconfig. To do so- Start-Run, type: msconfig, uncheck pestpatrol
Good luck;-)

I understand that this topic is ancient, old as the hills. However, I was running cCleaner and it revealed that I have "Pest Patrol" installed. I do not even know where I got it...

I went to the oldversions.com site and I got the 2006 version of those tools... You think that will do the trick with Pest Patrol?

Oh... I see where it came from. It was part of a package from Cox Cable. I installed it thinking it was a viable antispyware program. Instead, it embedded itself in my system without a way of removing it.

Well... jv16 did nto take it out: It tells me to use the "Web Uninstaller"

Any ideas how I can force an uninstall? Can I do it manually?

Windows XP MCE (The one based on Pro)

BTW: Any Cox Cable customers: DO NOT get this!

I'll check later to see if any of you fine fellows has any new insights on deleting the %^%$ out of this thing. Hope you got to Rome!

Thank you- And please excuse me for posting and resurrecting an old ded thred, which came up in a Google search. It just happened that Dave Nolan's 2004 problem was specifically applicable to my 2007 problem.

I just downloaded and checked the "old" version of jv16- And it is my bad that I did not get that one originally (It probably would have deleted the &^%$*^!@# out of all the Authentium poopoo that was bogging me up- And saved me all this time but ftwhuck, it is Sunday after all for me and I can waste my time if I want to! Heh).

I just got done: 1 hour to delete every entry in the registry relating to the sorry Cox program and then all of the little hidden files that are not located in one general area, but spread all around the PC.

I used RegCure (which was being Blocked from Running BY Pest Patrol) and cCleaner to delete the remaining Authentium-Specific entries.

Cox is getting a nasty letter about this... Can you believe they have based an ENTIRE "security suite" on Pest Patrol- And the uninstallation procedure is the same as Dave Nolan says: You gotta pay them to get rid of it. Cox neglected to include the Web-Uninstaller in the package... When you open Add/Remove Programs, the Cox suite has the uninstaller buttons BLANKED OUT.

The more I look at it, the more freakin incredible it is.

Thank you for your suggestions and if I continue to have problems with this, we'll open a new topic.

Oh Yes: I am attaching the Install Log file- No, wait.. The Install Log is almost 1 MB, so forget that!
