I followed Touch's procedure to Pitz in the thread 'BullGuard Antivirus Forum > General Security > Spyware > HiJackThis Log - secure32.html, SpySheriff, paytime & others ".  I was extremely pleased that a multitude of viruses and spyware were trashed.  Like Pitz's concern, I was left with an unchangeable desktop.  Note the original desktop picture does load with windows, but then it all turns blue then all turns grey.  Any idea how to correct it?  
 
Also, a couple of other observations.  As recommended in the procedure, I ran the full setof tools in order.  I found that the version of Spysweeper  received from the link only had a diagnostic capability and wouldn't repair the 9 or so things it found unless I subscribed.  I haven't done this yet, but will wait for recommendation from the group if this is worthy.
 
Finally, I found that Call of Duty and CoD UO no longer work correctly.  Punkbuster crashes the loads immediately citing "Insufficient O/S Priviledges"  I confirmed that my priviiledges are set to administrator so that doesn't seem to be the issue.  Also, research on Activision's and Evergreen's web sites allude to the problem notification, but didn't offer a suitable fix.  I have not tried to reload CoD yet, but may try that tonight if I don't receive any other quick fixes to try.
