Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me with the problems I have been suffering on my computer. I have included at the end of my questions my HiJackThis log to see if that helps with identifying my problems.

I have AVG free anti-virus, ad-aware se and spybot installed on my computer.

  1. Recently when I ran an ad-ware scan it detected adware.p2pnetworking. I deleted this spyware from the running processes on ad-aware and when I did it also stopped another running process at the same time, but also when removed adware.p2pnetworking from a scan I did on ad-aware where it detected it as a registry value, and then ran another scan it would detect it again (though spybot did not detect it). I’ve tried removing auto restore on windows and try to delete the spyware, but it still re-appears.

  1. I have also experienced a few viruses in my system32 folder. Avg detected about 3 from there but one called Trojan Horse Downloader.Generic.ZFQ seems to get detected from time to time with AVG whether I am on the internet or not.
AVG says the virus is located in c:\windows\system32\phqghume.exe
I have looked for that file recently but can not find it and was wondering from my log file if you can see the cause of it.

3. My last question is regarding peer2peer software. I read on a forum that I should remove P2P networking icon from control panel by using the add/remove programs. When I search through the list I can not find the program, so therefore I assume the program is removed even though the icon for P2P Networking is still on Control Panel. When looking through my system32 folder I saw 5 files called, P2P Networking v125, p2p.dll , p2pgasvc.dll , p2pgraph.dll , p2pnetsh.dll , p2psvc.dll and was wondering if these files need removing even though they have been on my computer for some time and AVG and ad-aware and spybot have not seen them as a threat.

Thanks in advance for the help you could give me on these 3 issues I have, all the help possible will be much appreciated.

Here below is my HiJackThis log if it is needed to determine the faults I have.

Hi wdf123 smile

Please download the below scanning tools

Download this scanner – mwav exe http://www.spywareinfo.dk/download/mwav.exe

When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
From the main Ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
After the update finishes, the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful"
Exit Ewido. DO NOT run a scan yet.
Ewido is a free trial product for 14 days.

For a basic version of CCleaner with no Yahoo Toolbar, select the second or third install option as follows:
Even if you selected Option 2 or 3, if you do not want the Yahoo Toolbar installed:
Uncheck "Add CCleaner Yahoo! Toolbar", as it is checked by default during CCleaner Setup

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad as you will be in Safe Mode and unable to refer to this page.

Run Hijackthis and place a check beside each of the following. Close all other browser windows except HJT.
Click fix checked.
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {77701e16-9bfe-4b63-a5b4-7bd156758a37} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [P2P Networking] C:\WINDOWS\System32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe /AUTOSTART

Reboot into Safe  Mode   by tapping F8 after the BIOS has loaded.
The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears.
Ensure that the Safe mode option is selected.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.

Delete the following files or folders (delete item in bold). Please do not be concerned if
any of the items are not found as they may have been automatically removed by actions I had
you take earlier in the cleaning process.

Open Folder Options in Controlpanel >view and check your settings:
Select
Show hidden files and folders
Display the contents of system folders
Uncheck: Hide protected operating system files
Delete:

Folders:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe

Open Ccleaner.

1.      Before first use, check under Options, Advanced, and UNCHECK "Only delete files in Windows Temp folder older than 48 hours".
2.      A pop up box will appear advising this process will permanently delete files from your system.
3.      Then select the items you wish to clean up.
In the Windows Tab:
Clean all entries in the "Internet Explorer". If you prefer to keep your cookies, uncheck the Cookies entry. Deleting cookies will require re-entry of user names and passwords on next visit to sites that require users log in.
Clean all the entries in the "Windows Explorer" section.
Clean all entries in the "System" section.
Clean all entries in the "Advanced" section.
Clean any others that you choose.

In the Applications Tab:
Clean all (optionally, except cookies) in the Firefox/Mozilla section if you use it.
Clean all in the Opera section if you use it.
Clean Sun Java in the Internet Section.
Clean any others that you choose.
4.      Then click the "Run Cleaner" button and it will scan and clean your system. Click exit.

åØåRun the mwav scanner:
Put a checkmark in:

Memory, Startup folders, drive, Registry, System folders and Services.
And:
All local drives og Scan all files
Push:  Scan  Button
This scan can take quite a while to run with many applications installed.

Run full scan with Ewido
Click on scanner
Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OK
When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK.

Once the scan has completed, click on the button located on the bottom of the screen named  - Save report
Save the report .txt file to your desktop.

Close ewido security suite.

Then reboot normally.

Post fresh  log from hijackthis, log from Ewido and tell how things are running

Hi there touch,

I’ve downloaded the 3 scanners you have suggessted. After I ran the Hi Jack This log to delete
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {77701e16-9bfe-4b63-a5b4-7bd156758a37} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [P2P Networking] C:\WINDOWS\System32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe /AUTOSTART

Ad-aware detected straight away that C:\WINDOWS\System32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe /AUTOSTART   had re-started itself.

I followed the next step of going into the folder option in control panel which you said.

Then when I went to delete the folder C:\WINDOWS\System32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe I could not find the folder.

I’ve tried searching for it using search for folders and even tried to manually find it through my computer.
The only P2P folders/files I can find in the folder system32 are
p2p.dll , p2pgasvc.dll , p2pgraph.dll , p2pnetsh.dll , p2psvc.dll

But C:\WINDOWS\System32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe must exist as ad-aware found P2P Autostart in that folder location.

One other quick question I have is that soemone told me that during the Hi Jack This log I should also try and fix
O16 - DPF: {1D6711C8-7154-40BB-8380-3DEA45B69CBF}
I was just wondering what you think about this also, as I value your opinion over their’s lol.

Thanks very much,

Just fix the 016 line, it is only a cosmetic thing. I suggest You post a fresh hijackthis log

Let´s use brute force ;-)

Please download brute force uninstaller to your desktop.

  • Right click the BFU folder on your desktop, and choose Extract All
  • Click "Next"
  • In the box to choose where to extract the files to,
  • Click "Browse"
  • Click on the + sign next to "My Computer"
  • Click on "Local Disk (C:) or whatever your primary drive is
  • Click "Make New Folder"
  • Type in BFU
  • Click "Next", and Uncheck the "Show Extracted Files" box and then click "Finish".

RIGHT-CLICK on the link below and choose "Save As" (in IE it's "Save Target As") in order to download Alcra PLUS Remover.
Save it in the same folder you made earlier (c:\BFU).

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping F8 until a menu appears. Highlight Safe Mode and hit enter.

Then, please go to Start > My Computer and navigate to the C:\BFU folder.
  • Start the Brute Force Uninstaller by doubleclicking BFU.exe
  • Behind the scriptline to execute field click the folder icon  and select alcanshorty.bfu
  • Press Execute and let the program do it’s job. (You ought to see a progress bar if you did this correctly.)
  • Wait for the complete script execution box to pop up and press OK.
  • Press exit to terminate the BFU program.
Reboot into normal windows, post new hijackthis log
