My laptop caught a virus which automatically stops the scanning of all the anti-virus software I installed including Mcafee, Avast, Norton, Ad-aware and Sophos. It also stops the computer from installing or updating the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool. I tried to use the Windows Live safety scanner to scan my computer online, but the scanning was again terminated, and now I can no longer turn on IE or even reinstall it.

My laptop runs Windows XP with SP3.

Any help is appreciated.
