Need help with removing Smitfraud-C spyware/trojan

With someones recommendation, I ran Hijackthis and created this log. If someone could helpo guide me in how to procede from here, it would be greatly appreciated. Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode:
Open the "smitRem" folder, then double click the "RunThis.bat " file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen. Your desktop and icons will disappear and then reappear again --- this is normal. Wait for the tool to complete and Disk Cleanup to finish --- this may take a while; please be patient.
Next go to Start -> Control Panel, click Display -> Desktop -> Customize Desktop -> Web -> Uncheck "Security Info" if present.
Restart your computer in normal mode.

Kaige New Member Date Joined Apr 2006 Total Posts : 3 Posted 4-15-2006 6:43 (GMT +1) I appreciate the help. I did everything you said, and it removed all the symptoms of the problem. Howver, when I run spybot to detect spyware, I still get an entry for "smitfraud-C" that spybot is unable to remove. I have gotten no furthur indications of spyware with any other scan though, so I am not sure what the deal with spybot is. Anyways, thanks for the assistance. Back to Top
